Different Types of Website Shopping Carts

So you want a shopping cart for your new e-commerce website eh? There are basically two options: use PayPal's free shopping cart, or custom develop an internal shopping cart.

PayPal Shopping Cart
The default PayPal shopping cart is very common for new websites because it is free. When you add items to the cart, it will pop up a window that belongs to PayPal. It is easy and cheap to incorporate into any website.

Internal Shopping Cart
Higher budget websites may opt for the internal shopping cart. When you add items to your internal cart, your website keeps track of the items. It looks more professional, but will cost 2-3 times as much as the PayPal cart.

Note: Notice that the internal shopping cart still uses PayPal as the payment gateway (when you "Pay Now"). The difference is that the items in the cart were kept track of "internally" on our website, rather than at PayPal. The internal cart can also be customized to have a different look and contain different kinds of information.
